Recall Masters Partners with Reynolds and Reynolds to Enhance Auto Dealers’ Ability to Identify Vehicles with Open Recalls

Recall Masters Partners with Reynolds and Reynolds to Enhance Auto Dealers’ Ability to Identify Vehicles with Open Recalls

Automated software helps dealers avoid penalties while prioritizing customer safety

Laguna Hills, CA, April 18, 2022 —
Recall Masters, the industry’s leading provider of automotive recall data, technology, and communications, announced today it is partnering with the Reynolds and Reynolds Company to offer auto dealers a new product called Recall Management. Recall Management enhances dealers’ ability to identify vehicles with open recalls, avoid penalties, and protect the lives of their customers and those sharing the road with them.

Recall Management runs automatically in the background, checking the entire dealership inventory at regular intervals to call dealers’ attention to recently issued recalls. The program uses easy-to-identify icons to alert sales and service staff to unaddressed recalls on the vehicle they are working on, checking in, or trying to sell.

This comprehensive recall software leverages extensive recall data from direct relationships with vehicle manufacturers, a dedicated research team, and other methods to ensure dealers have the most up-to-date information. Currently, more than one in four vehicles on the road have an open recall. With Recall Masters’ database of more than fifty leading providers supporting forty-six brands, NHTSA-mandated safety recalls and service bulletins issued by manufacturers are constantly monitored.

“Recall Masters is proud to provide Reynolds and its clients with access to data that will further vehicle safety for consumers and address key initiatives all dealerships value,” said Scott Alan, CEO of Recall Masters. “This partnership demonstrates the strength, experience, and leadership Reynolds brings to the auto industry. The inclusion of recall data in the Reynolds platform will not only save lives, but also assist dealers in their customer retention, parts, and service sales, and vehicle sales efforts.”

The announcement comes as the U.S. federal government is taking new steps to protect automotive consumers, including the introduction of the Used Car Safety Recall Repair Act in 2021 proposing financial penalties from the government and OEMs for dealers who are noncompliant with established safety standards.

Currently, selling a vehicle that does not comply with established safety standards can result in the NHTSA levying a maximum civil penalty of nearly $21,000 per offense.

“Dealers are on the front lines of recall compliance, protecting consumers while preserving the OEM’s brand,” said Jason Sideris, vice president of Fixed Operations Product Planning for Reynolds. “Recalls will continue to remain front and center for dealerships, as software, safety, and self-driving automation, electric vehicles, and other technological evolutions add to the complexity of vehicle manufacturing. And with NHTSA soon to have a new administrator, the focus on consumer safety will be higher than it has been in years.”

Recap of 2020 Recalls Reveals Impact of Pandemic on Compliance and the Continuing Threat

Recap of 2020 Recalls Reveals Impact of Pandemic on Compliance and the Continuing Threat

Despite a depressed manufacturing schedule due to the pandemic, 2020 NHTSA-mandated and OEM Voluntary recalls remained stead, adding to the enormity of the recall crisis

Laguna Hills, CA, May 12, 2020 — In its fourth “State of Recalls” report, Recall Masters, Inc., the automotive industry’s leading provider of recall solutions, revealed that more than 29.3 million affected vehicles were accounted for in 278 recalls mandated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in calendar year 2020. Another estimated 266 “voluntary manufacturer notice” campaigns affected the passenger cars and light trucks framed in this report. While many vehicles have more than one defect present, the 2020 total of 83.2 million affected vehicle recalls translates to more than one in four vehicles on US roads with at least one open recall. With an estimated 286.9 million registered vehicles in the country, the threat to drivers and passengers is greater than ever.

In a year littered with fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, automotive manufacturers fell far below annual production estimates.  Throughout the United States, new vehicles are a scarce commodity on dealership lots due to a worldwide shortage of semiconductors.  The pandemic caused the closure many of the few factories that produce these processors, bringing the OEMs to a grinding halt on new vehicle production.  Those computer chips have become vital components in vehicle operation, as cars become more like computers than machines.  Limited silicon chip production now forces OEMs to compete with other industries that build more in-demand products such as ventilators, computers and mobile phones.  The shortage of new cars has driven up prices for pre-owned vehicles, which were already in demand prior to the pandemic.  Newer pre-owned vehicle costs limit available profit for dealers, who now turn to older vehicles – 29% of which have a dangerous an unrepaired recall.  New vehicle availability might not return to pre-pandemic rates until late 2021.

“While used cars with an open recall are sold at a record pace, recalls are an even bigger threat to consumer safety,” explains Sean Reyes, Chief Marketing Officer at Recall Masters.  “In the face of falling sales revenues, franchise dealers turned to fixed operations to close the gap, repairing almost three times more same-year recalls as in prior years.  Unfortunately, this recall compliance data can’t negate the annual growth rate.  We’re just piling unrepaired recalls on top of previous years’ unrepaired recalls, but with the additional risk of used cars that are not exiting the market.  Prior to the pandemic, many of these vehicles would be scrapped.  Now, with limited availability of new cars and newer pre-owned vehicles, consumers are repairing these older vehicles at independent shops where recall repairs cannot be performed.”

Automotive recalls drew concern from consumer groups and legislators in recent years after dangerous Takata airbags caused several deaths and injuries. The Takata airbag problem lingers menacingly for 2020, as 32 airbag recall reports affecting almost 7 million total vehicle recalls keeps close pace with previous reported campaigns. Many of these faulty airbags were installed amidst a parts shortage, knowing that they would eventually have to be replaced.  Software and electronics recalls led both total campaigns (77) and total vehicles affected (7,541,325).  Vehicle features such as lane correction, auto-braking, in-cabin electronics, auto-parking and other driver-assist functions are heavily dependent on electronic components and software.  These electronic components are usually encased in plastic and are more susceptible to environmental and driving conditions.  Much like your laptop or phone, software requires patch updates.  The increase in the Software and Electronics category is causing Service Directors to redesign their service bays for a wave of high-tech recalls.  The 2020 State of Recalls Report also breaks down recalls by OEM and provides additional analysis like risk to consumers, vehicle system defect source, and vehicles counts for each defect category.

“This report takes a much deeper look at vehicle defects that include NHTSA-mandated recalls and a variety of other factory notices,” describes Reyes. “While this is the most comprehensive report of its kind, we acknowledge the gaps in data that come from how factory notices and collected, tabulated and scored. The automotive industry, consumer safety groups, legislators and consumers look to Recall Masters to provide them with a better understanding of vehicle defects and how to solve the recall crisis, which means more data than what the government currently provides. These voluntary manufacturer notices are not regulated and can range from typographical errors in the owner’s manual to defects that are on their way to becoming NHTSA-mandated recalls. We would all benefit from centralizing that data so that reporting can be more accurate. It’s going to take a collective effort, but we’ll get there in time.”

To date, the State of Recalls is the only annual report to publish voluntary manufacturer notices. Many in the automotive industry and consumer safety groups incorrectly assume these notices do not pose risk to consumers, like those recalls mandated by NHTSA. However, the gaps in time between reporting a defect and the investigations that follow, can leave vehicle owners vulnerable. Recall Masters tracks a vast number of these notices, providing risk scoring for the industry and consumers, along with other data points that can help dealerships appraise off-brand vehicles they might acquire at trade-in or at auction.

“We believe the consumer needs to know.…and dealerships need to know,” notes Reyes. “One of the leading reasons recalled vehicles go unrepaired is because owners and off-brand franchise dealerships don’t know about the recall. We’re changing that, not only with data and solutions for consumers, dealerships and the auto industry, but with the concept that we’re all in this together. This report is part of the process – complete transparency. Our industry is very committed to safer cars.  Having access to data and technology are essential parts to making that possible.  We’re pleased to be making a difference.”

For the purposes of this document, the term “recall” includes NHTSA-mandated recalls and an unaudited list of TSBs, defects and any other voluntary manufacturer notices that are issued by the manufacturer as part of an effort to inform consumers, dealerships and other entities that may own the affected vehicle. The use of the word “recall” should not be interpreted as a formal notice of a recall, either from the manufacturer or NHTSA. This summary is based on the available data collected by Recall Masters and is not a thorough accounting of all affected vehicles for 2020. Data is not authenticated by an independent firm.

VettX Partners with Recall Masters to Identify Vehicles with Dangerous Recalls on its Platform

VettX Partners with Recall Masters to Identify Vehicles with Dangerous Recalls on its Platform

Auto dealerships and consumers now have additional layer of transparency to safeguard them from making uninformed acquisitions

Laguna Hills, CA, June 10, 2020 — Recall Masters, Inc., the nation’s leading provider of automotive recall solutions, today announced a partnership with VettX, an automotive industry software provider that enables auto dealerships to easily access and acquire vehicles for sale by private parties. The VettX platform connects auto dealerships to a massive inventory of vehicles that would otherwise be time-consuming to locate and purchase and helps dealers scan this high potential private market. The new partnership with Recall Masters should make VettX market analysis data even more effective

“We’re extremely pleased to include VettX among our list of automotive industry clients who want to safeguard consumers from dangerous recalls while helping dealerships acquire assets with complete transparency. This partnership further assists Recall Masters in its mission to safeguard the industry and consumers from dangerous recalls that pose a threat to all drivers and passengers on the road,” stated Christopher Miller, Recall Masters CEO. “Recall status can be difficult to find, especially when acquiring vehicles from the private market.  VettX can now detail recalls related to the specific VIN of the searched vehicle as part of its market analysis.”

VettX’s auto dealers are trained to navigate a list of ready to purchase private party vehicles available in their local markets. Each dealer is provided with a list of ready to buy vehicles that have been fully vetted by the VettX team. Vetted vehicles include details regarding vehicle condition, pricing information, and any potential open recalls. VettX’s call center then reaches out to each seller to ensure the vehicle is as they claim it to be and arranges for a dealership to purchase it. Armed with this information, dealers can make a quick, educated decision as to whether the vehicle makes business sense for them.

“Partnering with Recall Masters allows dealers to easily scan every vehicle VIN for sale in the private market and look for recalls. This information is vital to our dealership community who need to make quick decisions on whether to purchase a particular vehicle,” said Ryan Dietz, VettX CEO and Chief Technology Officer  “This integration is extremely helpful because it adds a secondary layer of asset protection to assist the buyer, making us one of the first private automotive market software platforms to compile recall data into the market analysis. In an industry where vehicle valuation, speed-to-market processes, and razor-thin margins dictate success or failure, this partnership gives our customers a tremendous advantage in the marketplace,” Dietz added.

Boost Acquisition Partners with Recall Masters, Adds Critical Recall Data to its Offering

Boost Acquisition Partners with Recall Masters, Adds Critical Recall Data to its Offering

Laguna Hills, CA, May 19, 2020Recall Masters, Inc., the nation’s leading provider of automotive recall solutions, today announced a partnership with Boost Acquisition, a data and technology developer that connects in-market vehicle sellers with potential buyers at online and franchise dealerships. With the inclusion of recall data, Boost Acquisition can now check for-sale-by-owner vehicles for unrepaired recalls, reach out to their owners, and schedule repair appointments with client dealerships. Recall repairs are at no cost to the vehicle owner as dealers work with the manufacturer for reimbursement.

“Franchise dealerships are currently searching for revenue and consumers are hesitant to spend. Boost Acquisition has a much-needed solution for both dealerships and vehicle owners. Millions of vehicles with dangerous recalls exchange hands every month, leaving unsuspecting vehicle shoppers in the dark, placing dealerships at risk for product liability lawsuits and forcing sellers to accept less-than-ideal vehicle valuation. Our partnership with Boost Acquisition closes that gap in knowledge,” explained Christopher Miller, CEO of Recall Masters. “They also go a step further by connecting vehicle owners with factory-authorized dealerships who can repair those vehicles at no cost to owners. We’re so proud to include Boost Acquisition among our impressive list of automotive industry clients who want to safeguard consumers from dangerous recalls,” Miller added.

The demand for used cars has dipped in the past few weeks due to shelter-in-place restrictions, requiring that owners attend to those recall repairs to get a more favorable selling price. With recall data integrated into its solution, Boost Acquisition can better serve both dealerships and consumers.

“The data Recall Masters provides helps us get these vehicle owners into the dealership at a customer acquisition rate not available through other means,” said Patrick J. Howell, CEO at Boost Acquisition. “Not only do dealerships see revenue from the factory for recall repairs, but the interaction with consumers is leading to additional service repairs and vehicle sales. It is not the original intent, but a pleasant byproduct of taking care of the customer during their moment of need. Our client dealerships are amazed at the results and the quality of the customer interactions.  More importantly, these experiences are exactly what consumers are desperately searching for.”

Recall Masters provides recall solutions directly, and through strategic partnerships, to more than 3,000 dealerships nationwide. Also, two auto manufacturers, BMW of North America (BMWNA), and Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) are contracted with Recall Masters to assist with boosting recall completion rates for select dealerships in key US markets.

About Boost Acquisition:

Boost Acquisition provides for-sale-by-owner (FSBO) consumers with a consumer “hub” to offer a variety of services.  Not only do we help these vehicle owners sell their vehicles, but we’re also scheduling recall repair services with factory-authorized service centers and facilitating new vehicle purchases by connecting them to franchise dealerships.  Boost also provides dealerships with an online marketplace where they can make offers on FSBO vehicles for sale. Offer prices are enhanced by utilizing information on open recall values (service and parts).  In short, a vehicle is more valuable to the dealer if it has a serviceable open recall.  Dealerships can also convert FSBO consumers to a new vehicle transaction.  To learn more about Boost Acquisition, please call 858.829.9488, email info@boostacquisition.com or visit www.boostacquisition.com.

Recall Masters Supports its Auto Dealers with Special COVID-19 Response Kit to Help Handle Service Customers

Recall Masters Supports its Auto Dealers with Special COVID-19 Response Kit to Help Handle Service Customers

Laguna Hills, CA, April 8, 2020Recall Masters, Inc., the nation’s leading provider of automotive recall solutions, today announced the launch of a special COVID-19 Response Kit at no cost for its auto dealer clients. The kit is designed to help improve the handling of service customers and recalls at this time.

“It appears that, as a country, we’re moving past the immediate response to the COVID-19 outbreak and settling into a new normal for the next 30-60 days, if not longer. While the impact is unique to each dealer and local market, we stand united in supporting consumers who continue to rely on their local dealership for vehicle service. For stores that remain in operation, we are here to help. We’ve received some optimistic feedback from certain programs which are now available to our dealers at no additional cost,” said Dan Beres, Managing Partner at Recall Masters.

The Recall Masters COVID-19 Response Kit is offered at no additional cost to all current auto dealer clients and any stores within a group where one or more stores is a client. It includes the following:

  • MarketSMART Reports: These reports identify recalled vehicles on independent lots. Because sales have come to a standstill, Recall Masters has found that independents are now very receptive to vehicles being serviced by a franchised dealer. For a limited time, Recall Masters is making these reports available at no cost to its clients and all stores within the store’s group.
  • Group Inventory Batch Upload Reports: These reports identify recalled vehicles sitting on lots of a dealers’ sister stores. For a limited time, if a dealer provides the VINs in its group’s used car inventory, Recall Masters will check them for open recalls and return a report detailing which vehicles are affected by a recall.
  • COVID-19 Response Communication Campaign: In addition, Recall Master is offering a special COVID-19 Response Communication Campaign at no cost to its auto dealer clients. Dealers must fill out a questionnaire profile of their COVID-19 operations, and Recall Masters will coordinate communication with consumers who require vehicle servicing and repair (see sample email here).

Recall Masters dealers who are interested in a special COVID-19 RESPONSE communication campaign at no cost can click here.

Recall Masters has also drafted a best practices guide for using these tools, along with suggested call scripts, which can be accessed at: https://bit.ly/2V9h2hV.

“With staff cutbacks, many dealerships lack the resources to craft and distribute important updates to customers. And a key part of any workable solution right now is effective customer communications. At the best of times, recall customers can be upset about an existing recall, especially if their vehicle is now unsafe and a threat to them and their family. Add the threat of COVID-19 and the fear is even greater. It is vital to communicate with these customers correctly to help soothe any fears. For example, let them know you are adhering to all CDC guidelines and offering additional vehicle disinfection at vehicle drop-off and return at no cost to the customer,” Beres stated. “We expect the majority of our customers to take advantage of this opportunity, so please be patient while we confirm your participation. If you don’t receive a response within 24 hours, please email covid19support@recallmasters.com and we will call you immediately,” Beres added.

Any Recall Masters dealers interested in the COVID-19 Response Kit can call their representative or send an email to covid19support@recallmasters.com .

“Partnering with Recall Masters allows dealers to scan every vehicle VIN for sale in the private market and look for recalls,” details Ryan Dietz, VettX CEO and Chief Technology Officer.  “This information is very important to our dealership community, who need to make a quick decision on whether to purchase a particular vehicle.  This integration is extremely helpful because it adds a secondary layer of asset protection to assist the buyer, making us one of the first private automotive market software platforms to compile recall data into the market analysis.  In an industry where vehicle valuation, speed-to-market processes and razor-thin margins dictate success or failure, this partnership gives our customers a tremendous advantage in the marketplace.”

Recall Masters Named to OCBJ’s Fastest Growing Private Companies List

Recall Masters Named to Orange County Business Journal’s Fastest Growing Private Companies List

September 18, 2018, Laguna Hills, CA Recall Masters, Inc., the leading provider of automotive recall news, data, training, and communications, today announced it has been named to the Orange County Business Journal’s annual list of Fastest Growing Private Companies. The list celebrates the entrepreneurial success of local businesses experiencing exponential growth.

Qualifying companies must be based in Orange County, be privately held and have seen a minimum of at least 15 percent sales growth over a two-year period beginning on June 30, 2016. Recall Masters topped the list with an impressive year-over-year growth.  Revenue for the 12 months through June topped $6.4 million, skyrocketing 531% over two years. The percentage jump claimed the No. 1 ranking among small companies – annual sales under $10 million – according to the publication.

“This is a tremendous honor for us and really speaks to the performance of our team,” said Recall Masters’ COO and founder, Dan Beres. “We’re most proud of the work we’re doing to make our roads and highways safer for drivers and passengers. There is a huge recall epidemic in this country so it’s going to take great innovation to resolve. We’ve made a tremendous impact on the industry in developing the type of data, technology and communications that engages consumers and gets them to bring that vehicle into the dealership for the necessary repairs.”

With more than 1-in-4 vehicles on the road today with an open recall, Recall Masters has taken on an impressive challenge, most infamously driven by Takata airbag recalls.  Vehicle recalls were featured prominently in the media a few years ago when the Takata airbag recalls were first announced. Since then, at least 15 drivers and passengers in the U.S. (23 total worldwide) have died, with more than 250 people injured because of the airbag inflators. Worldwide, 23 individuals have been killed by exploding airbags. These faulty Takata airbags use ammonium nitrate to inflate the device in the event of a crash. However, after extensive testing, it was discovered that the ammonium nitrate can become unstable over time, leading to inflators exploding with violent force. According to the results of the ensuing NHTSA investigation, if the defective airbag ruptures, it can spray sharp metal fragments directly at the driver and passengers, increasing the risk of death or injury.

Recall Masters Helps Dealership Client Prevail in TCPA Recall Communications Lawsuit

Recall Masters Helps Dealership Client Prevail in TCPA Recall Communications Lawsuit

Recall Masters’ Christopher Miller warns auto dealers they could be easy targets for aggressive plaintiffs’ lawyers; offers advice to keep them safe

Aliso Viejo, CA, December 5, 2017Recall Masters, Inc., the leading provider of automotive recall news, data, training, and communications, today announced that it recently helped a large dealership client quickly fend-off a lawsuit related to recall communications.

The plaintiff alleged that she received text messages sent by Recall Masters on the dealership’s behalf that were not in compliance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”). Recall Masters provided information to the plaintiff’s attorney about the extensive preventative compliance audits and painstaking steps taken to conform with TCPA guidelines, which lead to the plaintiff promptly dismissing the case.

According to Recall Masters’ President, Christopher Miller, while this lawsuit was quickly handled by showing the plaintiff that no laws were broken, the industry will remain under scrutiny and dealers should take compliance matters seriously. “In recent years, many manufacturers, dealers, and their solutions partners, have become the target of criticism and litigation related to text messaging/TCPA violations, deceptive advertising, and fraudulent claims,” explained Miller. “Attorneys representing plaintiffs claim that dealers are recklessly sending marketing calls and texts without proper consent under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. On top of that, dealers continue to use aggressive, fear-inducing messaging attempting to coerce consumers into visiting their dealership. Upholding the highest ethical standard in our messaging and steadfast compliance with all laws has been and remains a number one priority for Recall Masters. And, in this case, those compliance efforts paid off for both Recall Masters and its client,” Miller added.

Recall Masters helps dealerships send consumers recall notices through multiple channels including postal mail, text messaging, emails, social media and phone calls, and goes to great lengths to comply with the TCPA, reasonable interpretations of FCC orders related to it, and various federal and state laws. Because of its heavy investment in compliance, Recall Masters was able to help its client inform the plaintiff on its efforts, leading to a reasonable dismissal without prejudice.

Recall Masters supported its client by providing documentation related to its compliance efforts. It also provided information about the TCPA’s exemption for calls and texts communicating information affecting the health and safety of consumers, which would reasonably include recall notifications. Recall Masters also demonstrated how it uses, out of an abundance of caution, a manual system to deliver its text messages with live agents personally interacting with every consumer scheduling recall repairs.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”) states that in 2016 there were over 900 recalls affecting 53 million vehicles. Over 25 percent of the vehicles on the road in the United States are operating with an unrepaired safety recall. “Millions of people every day are riding in or driving next to a vehicle with a potentially serious defect at a significant cost to public and personal safety. Although manufacturers are required to notify consumers of defects, dealers are often in a better position to engage with consumers, but lack the knowledge and resources to send recall notices on their own,” said Miller.

According to recent reports, more than half of Americans have ditched landlines and only use cell phone communications. Statistics also show that text messages have a 99 percent open rate and 95 percent of those text messages are read within 3 minutes of being sent, according to Forbes. The data clearly supports just how effective text messaging is as a communication channel. What’s more, in a September 2017 survey of consumer attitudes conducted by Recall Masters, 25.3 percent of respondents stated they would like to receive information about a recall on their vehicle “by any means necessary.”  And 8.9 percent stated that “text alone” should be the sole channel of communication. However, the standard means of communication for many manufacturers are phone and mail.

“Consumers are often unaware that they are driving unsafe cars and multi-channel outreach is critical to getting that safety information into their hands. Such informational messages may alert the consumer to the fact they have an open recall and either provide additional information about the recall, or instructions to contact the dealership’s recall department for information and to set up service,” said Miller. “In the search for increased recall completion rates, we can’t ignore how consumers want to receive these notices. Consumer habits and preferences have changed. How important are potentially life-threatening recalls to an individual’s safety? Considering that the national average for car ownership is almost one per person, and that Americans logged 3.22 trillion miles on the road in 2016, I’d say that recalls affect a pretty big chunk of the population,” Miller added.

The recent lawsuit isn’t Recall Masters’ first time helping its clients overcome TCPA concerns. In recent years, Recall Masters has aided about half a dozen clients successfully in responding to compliance-related complaints.

“We believe that effective communication can save lives and dealers need to be better educated about how to correctly do this,” Miller stated. “The bottom line is that the current recall epidemic, which is set to continue for the next decade or longer, will lead to more dangerous driving conditions if modern, more effective, solutions are not employed. Legislators are ‘up in arms’ about low recall completion rates, but have little understanding of what to do. And far too frequently consumers don’t even know the recall exists. A multi-communications strategy that also employs texting will absolutely increase recall repair rates, if used correctly,” Miller stated.

Recall Masters Announces Integration with Record360

Recall Masters Announces Integration with Record360

Dealers, rental agencies, and consumers now have real-time status updates when returning vehicle rentals or during recalls; helps avoid claims disputes

Aliso Viejo, CA, July 21, 2017Recall Masters, Inc., the leading provider of automotive recall news, data, training, and communications today announced a partnership with Record360, the leading software for digital asset condition documentation and asset condition management, to integrate its real-time vehicle recall lookup into the Record360 app. Dealers, rental agencies and consumers now have enhanced transparency and real-time updates when returning vehicle rentals, and/or during recalls. This also helps both parties avoid unnecessary claims disputes.

Record360 offers app-based condition reporting software that allows dealers to automate the asset management component within their rental and leasing departments, by digitizing vehicle conditions reviews. Record360 eliminates the problem of customers claiming damage while their vehicles are in for repair, or claiming they did not cause damage to a loaner or rental vehicle.

Last summer saw new legislation passed on vehicle safety recalls, which results in a fine of $5,000 if a consumer is put into a rental or loaner vehicle with an outstanding recall. Rental car agencies must fix any and all open safety defects before renting out vehicles to customers.

“Our two companies share a common mission which is to help digitize archaic, paper-based processes still prevalent in the automotive and vehicle rental industry. Processes wrapped around rental returns, and now vehicle recalls in particular, continue to be major pain point for dealers and other stakeholders,” said Shane Skinner, Record360 CEO.

Determining recall status during the initial inspection process saves time, reduces friction and prevents unnecessary upsets between dealers or car rental agencies and their customers. It also can help prevent customers being put into a rental or loaner vehicle that has an existing recall that should not be on the road.

“Countless damage disputes impact relationships, customer satisfaction, and cause negative reviews. Vehicle condition and claims management processes is dependent on paper or low-fidelity digital reporting and Record360 fills the gap with a modern solution,” said Chris Miller, President of Recall Masters. “Additionally, our integration with Record360 ensures that the user is informed of any open recall in real-time while the initial inspection is done. This helps build trusting relationships between automotive dealers or car rental agencies and their customers.”
