Round 2 of Takata Airbags Making their Way Back into Dealerships

Just a few years ago, Takata airbag recalls brought our industry to its knees, causing a significant backlog of recalls that could not be repaired.  Simply stated, there weren't enough safe airbags available.  Rather than hold vehicle owners hostage waiting for parts, the US government and the automotive industry bought some time.  Newer, yet faulty, Takata airbags were allowed to be installed, betting on the science that these newer bags presented less risk of rupture.  The plan called for a future recall to bring those vehicles back when newer, safer bags would be available.  For the most part, the strategy paid off, but now those vehicles are being recalled, causing some confusion amongst vehicle owners.  Dealerships need to be ready...watch the video here
